MISSION STATEMENT

WSHA 88.9 FM broadcasts a blend of jazz, blues, and community programming from the campus of Shaw University . The mission of WSHA is to provide programming that enriches the culture and life of its listeners and to serve the community as a valuable resource. The station is dedicated to promoting jazz worldwide and supporting its development in the local community.

WSHA is also committed to serving the community through outreach and programming services. Shaw University students and volunteers gain extensive broadcasting experience at WSHA

WSHA is a non-commercial public radio station, licensed to Shaw University in Raleigh NC. WSHA serving the Triangle and beyond.
WSHA has been broadcasting in the Raleigh area for over 35 years.
WSHA operates at 50,000 watts, from an antenna height of 500, feet with a signal that extends over an 80-mile coverage area in some directions.
WSHA broadcasts 24 hours a day, 365 days per year.
WSHA reaches a high income, well educated multiethnic, multicultural audience.
A mixture of mainstream and contemporary Jazz dominates the WSHA format. Special programming emphasis is placed on Blues and Gospel, Reggae, African and Latin American Music.
 
WSHA is certified by the Corporation for Public Broadcasting (CPB), national network affiliations that include the National Public Radio (NPR) and Bloomberg.
